Tegueste, located in the valley bearing the same name used to be ruled by the ‘menceyato Tegueste’ hence today’s current name. It features the particularity of being totally surrounded by
La Laguna, thus it is the only region that doesn’t have an exit to the sea nor coast line.
Its economy is eminently agricultural and also focuses on raising livestock, specialising in cattle due to the abundance of pastures, water and forests in the area. Although in recent decades it has expanded its urban area with magnificent residential areas which have become rural dwellings just minutes from the hustle and bustle of the costal towns.
